Woman unknowingly smuggles pot over border beneath her car

We've seen very creative ways to smuggle drugs across a border with a motorized vehicle (including faux rally trucks) but most don't involve innocent citizens. Giving all of us yet another reason to peer beneath our rides before we travel, innovative Mexican smugglers recently used powerful magnets to hold five-pound bundles of marijuana to the underside of an unsuspecting driver's car as she commuted to her job.

The 33-year-old woman, who lives in Mexico and travels across the border to San Diego for work, became suspicious at the end of her early morning commute when two men approached her car. The men, unaware she was still sitting inside, ran to a nearby black sedan after being startled. After the woman contacted police, the authorities found six packages (totaling 30 pounds) of the illegal drugs wrapped tightly in duct tape and held in place by a series of magnets.

Police don't know who placed the bags, or who was sent to retrieve them. An investigation continues, but no arrests have been made.
