Carlin has completed its Formula Renault 3.5 line-up for 2013 by signing Carlos Huertas to partner Jazeman Jaafar.
Colombian Huertas raced for Fortec in the series last year, where he was team-mate to Robin Frijns as the Dutchman won the title.
But Fortec’s second car was blighted by mechanical misfortune through the campaign, and Huertas will return to his former Formula 3 team Carlin for this year.
“It’s great to be back with Carlin for this season,” said the 21-year-old, who finished third in British F3 with Carlin in 2011.
“We had a lot of good times together in 2011 an I think we can also enjoy success this year.
“I already know the tracks and the car well so I’m looking forward to hitting the ground running when the season starts.”
Team boss Trevor Carlin added: “Carlos is very well-known to the team and was an extremely well-liked member of our F3 squad, so it’s with great pleasure that we welcome him back.
“Carlos has spent post-season testing familiarising himself with our car and should be in good shape when testing recommences.
“With Carlos and Jazeman the team have already gelled together well so we look forward to a successful season ahead.”
