David Fumanelli will drive for Trident Racing for his second season of GP3 competition.
The 23-year-old Italian was a podium finisher for MW Arden on his way to 11th overall in last year’s standings.
He is aiming to run at the front on a regular basis and fight for the championship.
“It hasn’t been an easy winter because I struggled to put the strings together for a 2013 programme,” Fumanelli said.
“The turning point has been a visit to the Trident headquarters. I’ve been very impressed by the facilities and met highly motivated staff.
“I can say I’m expecting a top-notch season. I want to be a contender in all races and reap the benefits at the end of the season in order to be at the front end of the results.”
Fumanelli joins Emanuele Zonzini, who confirmed his Trident deal last week.
