What It Is: Captured here is the BMW 4-series without a disguise and in all its glory. At least as much as the previous generations of the 3-series coupe, the 4-series will be significantly different from the 3-series sedan, not even sharing a single piece of sheetmetal with its four-door sibling. The production-spec 4-series will be very similar to the Concept 4-series Coupe that was unveiled at the Detroit auto show this past January, and this means it will feature a sleek roofline, an elongated hood, and sculpted flanks. The gaping air intakes out front are uncomfortably similar to the new look within Mercedes-Benz’s high-performance lineup, established by the new E63 AMG. The rear end, meanwhile, is relatively conventional, in stark contrast to the concept we saw earlier this year.
