Tandy to contest full ELMS season

Nick Tandy New Porsche factory driver Nick Tandy will contest the full European Le Mans Series with the Proton Competition team in 2013.

The Briton was announced as part of the line-up in Proton’s solo ELMS entry at the season opener at Silverstone on April 13 two weeks ago and has now been confirmed for the full series.

He will share the German squad’s Porsche 911 GT3-RSR in all five races with team boss Christian Ried and Italian Gianluca Roda, who drove for the team formerly called Felbermayr-Proton in last season’s World Endurance Championship.

Tandy, who raced with Felbermayr-Proton at the 2011 Le Mans 24 Hours, said: “I am very excited about racing in a top European series, which is something I have been aiming at for some time.

“With Christian and Gianluca, we should be aiming for podiums at the very least and hopefully victories.”

Tandy was announced as a Porsche factory driver in December and made his first appearance in works overalls at the Daytona 24 Hours in January, taking GT class pole at the wheel of a Konrad Motorsport 911 GT3 Cup.
