Auto GP drops Russia for Silverstone

The Auto GP World Series will race at Silverstone this year, giving it two British dates in 2013.

The single-seater championship is joining the Blancpain Endurance Series bill on June 1-2.

The Silverstone round replaces a provisional date at Moscow Raceway alongside the World Touring Car Championship, which had been scheduled to take place a week later.

AUTOSPORT understands that plans to proceed with an inaugural Russian event were dropped owing to cost concerns from Auto GP teams.

Auto GP’s second UK event will be at Donington Park alongside Superstars on August 30/September 1.

Two in-season test days have also been announced at the Hungaroring on May 3 and Donington on August 29.
