Kia has revealed its latest collaborative project with DC Entertainment, a Superman-themed Optima hybrid, at the 2013 Chicago auto show. The automaker’s work with DC Entertainment already has produced five other superhero-influenced show cars (four were released at the 2012 SEMA show in Las Vegas; another, a Batman-themed Optima, debuted earlier). As with those previous show cars, this Optima hybrid is designed to draw attention to DC’s We Can Be Heroes campaign to fight hunger in Africa.

- Instrumented Test: 2011 Kia Optima SX Turbo
The Superman Optima hybrid was created with help both from DC Entertainment and Super Street magazine, and features widened fenders, an adjustable suspension, Superman logos inside and out, a crazy red-and-blue paint job, and red-tinted headlights designed to evoke Superman’s heat vision. Kia also slapped a red insert into the grille that looks like the Man of Steel’s belt, which is sort of cool. In fact, this Optima hybrid actually is the most restrained of Kia’s superhero show cars, and the wide-body stance looks darn attractive.
