If there is one place where it isn’t surprising to see a 600 hp Hyundai Elantra GT it’s SEMA. But even there, that’s pushing the envelope, not that we mind. Bisimoto Engineering and Hyundai teamed up to build this ludicrous Elantra GT because, well, they could.
Modifications start with a rebuilt engine, including new cams, headwork, steel connecting rods, and forged pistons. A turbocharger is installed and paired with larger injectors, a blow-off valve, a water-methanol kit, a larger fuel pump, and an intercooler. This gives this Elantra GT its jaw-dropping 600 hp from the tiny 1.8-liter four-cylinder, but power remains directed through the front wheels. The car is then lowered on a coil-over suspension and a roll cage was installed for added protection. A new sway bar helps stiffen the Elantra, and a new clutch helps cope with all that extra power.
Bisimoto’s Elantra is wrapped in Gatorwrap with Type 2 graphics, and a body kit and aero upgrades give the small hatchback the muscular look to accompany its muscular four-banger. A stainless steel muffler finishes the sporty look. Racing seats with accompanying harness are added to the interior, and that’s probably for the best considering this car probably isn’t going anywhere in a straight line. Read full story »
