Ford Unveils Trio of Tuned F-Series Trucks [2012 SEMA Show]

Truckin Magazine Ford F-150 SEMA

Ford continues its piecemeal unveiling of the cars it is sending to this year’s SEMA show with an advanced look at three customized F-series pickups. The F-150 was refreshed for 2013, and two of the three trucks listed here are based on the new truck; the third pickup is a thoroughly customized 2012 Super Duty model. The worked-over rigs join the gaggle of hopped-up Focus STs and Fusions the company already has revealed ahead of the show, but easily take the cake in terms of size. And that’s all that counts at a show like SEMA, right?

Truckin’ Magazine’s SEMA-bound F-150 began life as a 2013 FX2 Sport Super Cab model—equipped with the available twin-turbocharged, 3.5-liter EcoBoost V-6—but received numerous chassis upgrades for better handling. Besides lowering the ride height considerably, the Truckin’ folks also beefed up the F-150’s brakes and fitted a handsome set of wheels and tires. Finally, a stripe job takes care of the pickup’s cosmetic upgrades.

Slammed pickups can be cool, but we still think the coolest customized trucks are the ones that are lifted way off the ground, like this F-250 modified by Kelderman Air Suspension Systems. The firm lifted the F-250’s suspension by 10 inches and fitted one of its adjustable air suspension setups and Sway-A-Way remote reservoir shocks. Lifting a rig’s suspension is like lifting someone’s skirt—almost everything that previously was hidden is now on full display for the world to see. To ensure this F-250’s nether regions put on a good show, Kelderman powder-coated, painted, and chromed the various suspension components. Aside from the Monster energy drink black and green color scheme, this is one bad-ass, diesel-powered F-250.

K-Daddyz Kustomz Ford F-150 SEMA

In stark contrast to the rock-crushing Kelderman F-250 and slick Truckin’ F-150 stands this customized effort from K-Daddyz Kustomz, which goes for a more old-school hot-rod look. K-Daddyz crew slammed this F-150, gave it a seriously bright red paint job, bolted on a set of 24-inch wheels, and installed a “mind-blowing” Rockford Fosgate audio system. Curiously, K-Daddyz Kustomz also fully detailed the truck’s underside. Granted, we’re thinking only lithe amoebas could slide underneath this F-150’s rocker panels for a glance at the pristine belly, so we’ll take the outfit’s word for it that things down there are nice and shiny. Far less useless—as far as we’re concerned, at least—is the supercharger K-Daddyz added to the 5.0-liter V-8 under this F-150’s hood.
