British Touring Car racer Tony Gilham plans to field two Vauxhall Insignias and a Honda Civic in the championship next season.
Gilham has run a number of drivers in his S2000 Civic under the Team Hard banner in 2012 and has also raced Thorney Motorsport’s NGTC Vauxhall Insignia.
He has now acquired the Insignia and a second example, which is currently in build.
The 33-year-old will race the newly liveried Insignia at Brands Hatch this weekend, while former Ginetta racer Aaron Williamson will drive the Civic. The squad will then start a development programme on the Insignias.
“We’re going to completely redevelop the cars and put our own stamp on them,” said Gilham, who confirmed he still plans to build all-new NGTC machines during 2013.
“We’re also be building our own cars, though we can’t say what they are yet and we didn’t have time to develop all-new cars over the winter.
“The Insignia’s definitely got potential. We’ve not had the reliability so far, but we’re already making changes.”
As well as running the Civic and Insignias in 2013, Gilham did not rule out racing his new machines late in the season.
